Welcome to the Venture Inn, a nautical, updated 5 bedroom home in South Chatham. A perfect home for a large extended family or multiple families vacationing together. Our coastal home is pet-friendly, sleeps 10 people, has central AC, outdoor shower, and is walking distance to the beach, rail trail, and more! We're away from crowds down a quieter road south of route 28, but only 5 minutes to downtown Chatham and Harwichport. We're very close to many Nantucket Sound beaches - walking distance to one, two within 1.5 mi of the house, and an additional three under 3 mi. from the house.
When you enter the home, you'll walk into our newly renovated and fully equipped open concept kitchen and dining room. The kitchen is outfitted with stainless steel appliances and a beverage fridge in the center island, complete with 3 stools. We have a large communal dining table making it a great gathering space for everyone. Off the kitchen, you can step right out to the deck, which has an outdoor dining table, gas grill, and small seating area with bench.
Our living room has lots of comfy seating, a large flat screen TV, a cozy corner for reading, and a game table with a variety of board games and a large bookcase of books for your enjoyment. (The game table also makes a great WFH desk for those working remotely.) We have three Roku Smart TVs, as well as SONOS speakers and WiFi throughout the home. Outside, you'll enjoy our large deck with a grill as well as an enclosed outdoor shower. You'll also find a shed with beach chairs, outdoor games, etc.
We have five bedrooms and two bathrooms:
• On the main level, there are 3 bedrooms and a bathroom (tub). Bedroom #1 has a Full bed, bedroom #2 has a King bed and a flat screen TV, and bedroom #3 has two Twin beds.
• On the lower level, there are two more bedrooms and a bathroom (shower). Bedroom #4 has a Queen bed, and bedroom #5 has two Twin beds. There is also a washer and dryer on this level.
Venture Inn is in close proximity to several beaches and the rail trail. Great area for people that like to be active or enjoy the outdoors. All of the beaches are great for little ones to explore with the gentle waves of the Nantucket Sound and lots of seashells to collect.
• Cockle Cove Beach is a short walk (1/2 mi from end of Cranberry Way) This beach has a bike rack, bathrooms, and is generally one of the quieter beaches, away from crowds.
• There is also a “secret” beach on the way to Cockle Cove – head down a hidden path that takes you to a secluded beach area with great views of Forest Beach and access to Mill Creek (great swimming for kids).
• Ridgevale Beach is 1.5 miles driving or just a short walk down Cockle Cove Beach. This beach has boat rentals, a full-service snack shack, and bathrooms. There’s also a creek here which is great for younger children to swim and play.
• Taylor's Pond is less than a 1/2 mi away, so bring (or rent) a kayak or stand up paddle board. The pond offers a public dock for you to access the water and allows access to the ocean.
• Forest Beach is also 1.5 miles from the house - beautiful scenery and walking trails. You can view the other side of the “secret” beach from here!
• Harding Beach, Red River Beach, and Pleasant Street Beach are all under 3 miles from the house. All great beaches in their own right!
For those looking to get some exercise, we often jog/walk the loop to Cockle Cove Beach, down the beach to Ridgevale, and then back home via the Rail Trail - it's about 3 mi total. Or, we jog / walk down to Forest Beach and back - again about 3 mi total.
For those with bikes, we’re also ¼ mi from the Old Colony Rail Trail. If you head east, this biking/walking trail can take you directly into downtown Chatham (about 4.5 mi). If you head west, you can head all the way into Dennis or connect to the Cape Cod Rail Trail and head as far north as Wellfleet!
Our home is a five minute drive to downtown Chatham or downtown Harwichport, which both offer great shopping and restaurants (lots of curbside pick-up options)! Other areas within walking distance include:
• ¼ mile to Short n' Sweet, the best ice cream shop on the Cape!
• ½ mile to Marion's Pie Shop
• 0.9 miles to to Drifters. Incredible food and cocktails! Great vibe and fun place to eat!
• 0.9 miles to Pisces Restaurant for great seafood and finer dining. Right across from Drifters – we generally have a drink at one and walk across the street to eat at the other!
