Description

Beautiful home in a quiet and friendly neighborhood, walking distance to Barnstable Village shops and 4 houses from our neighborhood's private beach. We renovated the home in 2019 and welcome our guests with new baths, kitchen appliances, flooring, central A/C, cable TV, and washer/dryer. Outdoor gas grill new in 2020. Linens (excluding beach towels) are also provided.

The home's layout is configured to provide the perfect place for a family vacation: 2 bedrooms, 1 full bath downstairs, and 2 bedrooms/1 full bath upstairs, sleeping up to 7. The living room and master bedroom both have “smart” TVs and Wi-Fi for streaming.

The large yard and 16'x22' foot deck with patio furniture and enclosed outdoor shower offer a relaxing spot after a day of soaking up the sea life at the private beach. There is also a swing set with monkey bars for the little ones.

Walk to Barnstable Marina and watch the whale watching boats leave from right around the corner. Have dinner at Mattakeese Wharf, or pick up lobsters and ice cream from the local fish market up the street. Charter a fishing boat, or rent a paddle board in Hyannis for the week. It’s an easy, central Cape location at Exit 68 (old Exit 6).

First Time and Would Absolutely Return

This was our second summer vacationing at Millway Beach/Barnstable Harbor and our first staying at this property, and we would absolutely return. House was incredibly clean, kitchen was well stocked with utensils/plates/glassware and had new modern appliances. Great big windows throughout allow for maximizing ventilation of refreshing beach air, and the main bedroom upstairs has a wonderful view where you can see the water at the end of the street. Bathrooms were modern with great water pressure, including the outdoor shower. Back patio and grill were great for lunch/dinner. Yard was great for the kids to run around in. Communication with owner was incredibly easy, and she was very helpful not only with information about the house, but also with recommendations for nearby spots to try. Check in and check out could not have been easier. My only hesitation in writing this review is that others will find out about this spot and it will be tougher to get availability for our next trip! show more show less

    Great house & location!

This house is the perfect spot for multiple families! The bedroom/bathroom layout was ideal. The house itself is newly renovated and beautiful inside and out, and the deck was huge! We loved hanging out in the backyard and having cookouts on the grill.

Additionally, the location of the house was fantastic! We enjoyed the quick walk to the private beach, as well as the proximity to local seafood restaurants on the wharf. A little bit down the road there is a great coffee shop, grocery store, and restaurants. It's also a very convenient location to get to downtown Hyannis while avoiding typical Cape traffic. Would highly recommend!! show more show less

Loved Our Stay on 1st Way

This was the perfect way to spend a week in Barnstable. The location couldn't be beat -- in a sweet little neighborhood, just 200 or so steps to the private beach and walking distance to options for outdoor dining and takeout. We didn't take advantage of the whale watch or boat rentals, but it would have been so easy to do. Easy walk, jog or quick drive to town for essentials -- as well as a quick 7 min drive to Stop and Shop. It's a great central location for those looking to explore. But seriously, what others said, you really don't need to use your car at all.

The house was AMAZING. The owners have taken great care in a full renovation with lots of perks and the outside deck with outdoor shower was so nice and made getting the kids rinsed after a day at the beach easy. I actually worked during the week while my husband took the kids to the beach - wifi was excellent. I wish we could have booked longer. It was a great arrangement! Wish we could stay all summer long. Lots of games and puzzles for kids of all ages if you do have a crummy day, but the weather was perfect for us. Sunsets are unreal. It's a great little spot. Feel very blessed to have been able to escape the 2020 BS and just enjoy a vacation safely. We made some great memories and hope to be back next summer!

    The Perfect Cape RentL

This house is AMAZING! It is completely renovated and has all of the perfect touches that help to make you feel right at home while on your vacation. The house is also perfectly located in the quiet little Barnstable Village. It is walking distance to the beautiful beach, which is never crowded. Also walking distance to multiple restaurants, ice cream, Nirvana Cafe, the Barnstable market, and the marina. We stayed here as two families (4 adults & 4 children) and we had more than enough space. The adults could all sit together and sip coffee & chat in the mornings, and we could all come together and eat dinner at the same table (inside dining & outside dining) at night. We had such a great time making memories, connecting, and catching up w/each other while enjoying all that the Cape has to offer. We can't wait to return to this jackpot of a Cape vacation home! show more show less

    Awesome 2020 Family Vacation

We have been vacationing on Cape Cod with our children and grandchildren for the past five years and rented this home for the first time since coming down to the Cape. We absolutely loved this home it had everything a multi generational family would need !!!

The area in Barnstable is quaint with everything close by. This home is in a quiet neighborhood with a short walk to the beach, seafood market and restaurants. With the short walk to the beach we enjoyed beautiful sunsets across the bay.

There was plenty of room for the 7 of us in the home and the grandchildren enjoyed the yard including the swing set. The back deck was large with plenty of space for our family to relax whether sitting under the umbrella at the oversized table or lounging by oneself in the sun. When returning from the beach one climbs onto the deck and enters a nice new oversized outdoor shower to refresh from a long day at the beach.

We were concerned with the pandemic but the owners arranged for additional cleaning and precautions which made us very comfortable. Nancy was available and extremely helpful with any questions we had.

We enjoyed ourselves here so much that too quickly the week came to an end and we felt sad in leaving as it felt just like home. We are so pleased with the area, the home and the owners we would highly recommend this home to family, friends and anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing and enjoyable family vacation on the Cape. We look forward to coming back.

    Never moved our car

Such a great updated house! Easy walk to a delicious dinner on the water. Great breakfast sandwiches and coffee at Nirvana-also walking distance. Walked home with groceries from a fully stocked grocery store. Spent my days on a gorgeous beach. It was all quiet and relaxing. Great for my family including my little kids.

Our family has owned the home since 1975 and we underwent a renovation in 2019 to modernize it a bit and add the assets most people want to enjoy while vacationing - central A/C, washer dryer, new baths and kitchen. The Cape has been a special second home to us and our children have started to build the same memories. We value the neighborhood and neighbors, the ocean and it's many wonders and the quaintness and ease of Barnstable Village. Our goal is to keep the tradition our parents started by sharing it with others.

What is special about this property?
The private beach is 265 steps away, which means you can run home if you forgot a favorite shovel or stay in the sand all day and soak up the sun. The tides provide for countless hours of exploring for families and every day brings a new adventure in the water. The new outdoor shower means rarely having to be inside and makes cleaning up post-beach easy for kids and adults alike.

What is special about your town?
Barnstable harbor is unique as it is 10 minutes from the Cape Cod Mall and convenient shopping (Whole Foods, Home Depot, etc.) yet once home again it is quiet and peaceful so you can forget the crowds. The harbor hosts the whale watch tours twice daily in peak season and the sunset Eco-tour is fun for groups. The fish market up the street serves awesome fresh meals or you can buy and cook the off-the-boat fish at home. Scenic Route 6A leads visitors to historical attractions and more populated beaches too. Something for everyone and great for families.
