Description

Description

This 2 bedroom, 1 bath Cape ranch also includes a separate, 1 bedroom, 1 bath cottage (combined can sleep a total of 6). The house and cottage are located on a large corner lot on a quiet street across from the right of way to a private sandy beach. This beach faces a lovely harbor with spectacular views of Sandy Neck with its cottages and lighthouse.

The house has french doors that lead out to a large teak deck with table and chairs for outside dining and enjoying the extensively planted garden. There is also a blue stone patio surrounded by rose bushes off the living room. An outdoor shower, second refrigerator, coolers and beach chairs make this an easy family vacation. The house has wifi and cable television.

The property is located 4 short blocks from Barnstable Harbor where you can find sportsfishing, whale watching, restaurants, and a fresh fish market. A few blocks further and you are in historic Barnstable Village complete with shops, restaurants, and a wonderful general store. You can spend the entire week here and never use your car! However, you are also just a 1 minute drive from lovely Route 6A (Old King's Highway) with its historic sites, antique shops, galleries and quaint villages for your enjoyment.

    Great cottage, location, etc!!

My family stayed here in early August. The house is a quintessential Cape cottage but with some great upgrades like a gorgeous deck, three sets of french doors that make the whole place light and airy, and a finished cottage/living area in a separate space. The place sits on a corner lot with a very large and beautifully kept lawn and you can see across the street to the ocean from the deck (and many windows.) The kitchen is small but very serviceable, with a big dining room adjacent. The living room area is very spacious, with beautiful beadboard and a cathedral ceiling. Very well done updating while keeping the charm of the house in place.

The separate cottage bedroom/living/bath area is perfect for hosting visiting family or for Mom and Dad's "private space." Laundry facilities all modern, with an extra table/chairs and fridge out there!

Mattakeese Wharf, restaurants and boat tours are within easy walking distance, as is the quaint village of Barnstable with more restaurants and great shops (the General Store is awesome).

Will definitely stay here again for next Cape trip. The owners, Jon and his wife Eliza, are really nice.

    Perfect Cape Vacation Home!

We have stayed here several times and just adore this summer home. The house is surprisingly spacious, with vaulted ceilings and open floor plan, hardwood floors, light and airy with French doors for indoor-outdoor living, just perfect for all ages. The large yard is perfect for wiffle ball games, badminton, frisbee and croquet. We even had our wedding reception on the lawn! The landscaping is fabulous--we had fresh flowers on the table every day. The big outdoor shower is wonderful for rinsing off sandy toes or showering several kids at a time. The added bonus of the guest cottage is perfect for in-laws, teenagers, and family/guest overflow! The location is absolutely ideal--steps to the beautiful private beach, short walk to the harbor, whale watching, deep sea charter fishing, excellent restaurants, and quaint shops and the Barnstable store with anything you need are just a short walk to the village. We enjoyed our morning coffee surrounded by roses on the patio, watched gorgeous sunsets from the deck...I did not want to leave! This is the perfect getaway with everything you need right there (right down to the beach toys and lounge chairs, grill, laundry, dishwasher)...you have it all. The owners have exquisite taste and keep the house and yard in impeccable condition, and they are responsive and very accommodating. We have made the most cherished memories during several absolutely wonderful family vacations in this beautiful summer home. show more show less

    A Quintessential Cape Cod-age!

Our hearts race as we anticipate our stay in this classic cottage! We actually do a family countdown until we arrive at this haven. There is plenty of space for our family of 6+ with an oversized great room, kitchen, dining room & separate living quarters for the kids. (Many rooms dressed in wainscot and silky smooth vanilla cream paint.) We often entertain and guests can spill onto patios, deck and lawn through beautiful French wood doors. The lot is so large we have had celebrations of almost every kind here & the outdoor shower is as close to Zen as you will ever find. Even the morning “sun up” view over the bay can be enjoyed from the living room & side stone patio as you sit amongst the Hostas & heirloom miniature pink roses. Truly, it is perfect!
Mature landscaping, a very well updated & maintained home and all the necessary amenities that come with a beach stay are available. Our family learned to BBQ Bluefish and Stripers here & we have cooked cobblers from road side stands in this cottage kitchen. With the beach being so close we often forget to do anything else but play in the sand, watch the beach ebb and flow and then return to take afternoon naps with all the windows and doors swung open, a lovely luxury.

Barnstable is the loveliest of towns and this home is within a 5 minute walk to the town’s center where we have enjoyed more that a half dozen July 4th parades. The finickiest of vacationers can be assured -- the Bay House is an ideal place to stay.

*This review makes me want to get the calendar out to begin our summer stay countdown in this picture perfect cottage!

    wonderful place, great vacation

We had the best time in this beautiful, quiet place just a few steps from the beach. The place is clean, well designed and airy, the yard peaceful and private. We've rented twice already and will be back for sure.
