Just a pretty beach to walk and look at all the beautiful homes. So private too! Just perfect!!

Poor experience
8/20/2020

Poor experience. I got a license to go shellfishing in Mashpee by the town hall. The official map pointed us to this beach, and no one mentioned it was private. This is especially disappointing as the license I got was obvious that it was for someone who wouldn’t be a member of this beach. When we got there, we were promptly kicked out by mean guards, who stated that we weren’t allowed to park but could walk in to go shellfishing. If this beach IS private, I wouldn’t be able to shellfish there regardless. There were also no drop-offs. This entire experience was not for out of town people.

LOVE this beach!
Private and secluded - away from the hustle and bustle of life! So many pebbles and shells! Perfection!

It is a beautiful beach where the water is calm and very swimmable. It is a very relaxing beach! At the time when we were there, it was not very crowded so it was nice to take quiet walks, especially in the morning.

Great escape from the noisy world!

The beach is amazing and the water warm and clean. I have never seen a seal here so sharks are rare (unlike lower cape!) The neighborhood is clean and the streets are filled with kids biking here (do not try to speed here a parent will chew you out).
At the end of our beach days we would walk down to the awesome marketplace for a drink and the kids would hit the candy store or ice cream shop. You really could drive into your rental and leave your car for the week and walk/bike everywhere the whole time. The area is also really unpretentious and most of the families are really well-mannered folks. We LOVE Poppy!

Popponessett is, by all means, our favorite beach. Even in the height of the season, the beach is never crowded. There is always lots of space for everyone.

The Spit is a really great beach with water access on both sides, Great for kids, no big crowds and a beautiful walk out the peninsula. Parking is very limited so I recommend one person dropping everyone off and then biking down or getting there before 9am or after 3pm.

The Spit in New Seabury! Pristine but no services except Ice Cream Boat. Bay is safe and shallow. Wish I was there right now!

We love to visit "The Spit" off Poppinesset Island. It is fabulous for all ages. The Spit has an ocean side and a Poppinesset Bay side. The water is shallow and clear. LOVE IT!!

Popponesset Beach was a fantastic south facing sandy beach with warm ocean waters. Itwasn't private per se, but it felt like it was - we never felt crowded there - even in the middle of the summer! Superb sunrise! Talk about a hidden gem!

(We got a packed vehicle down to the parking lot at the Spit early each morning. The lot only holds 5 cars. That way the coolers, chairs, beach toys, horseshoes, etc. were there when we were ready to hit the beach!) We prefer the Spit at Popponesset Beach. In addition to the ocean beach, there is an inlet where the kids catch crabs, little fish, etc. And...the Ice Cream Boat pulls right in there!
