This beach is now off-limits. The adjacent Gay Head Cliffs are a National Landmark and were seriously endangered by climbing on the cliffs and removal of the clay. See nearby Philbin Beach.
Gorgeous clay cliffs! the most beautiful beach I have ever seen in the USA

Aquinnah is one of our favorite spots on the island, although Wasque on Chappy is a close second. We enjoy both of these beaches for the serenity and lack of crowds.

Aquinnah has been our sentimental favorite of the many beautiful beaches on MV. The combination of rugged coastline, enchanting clay cliffs with an array of colors, changing with the light, the relative remoteness of the place (meaning fewer crowds), the charming lighthouse and dramatic sea views, friendliness of the locals working there--all contribute to the unique beauty and peace of the place. Any time of the day is a good one to visit...

We love the ruggedness of this edge of the Vineyard -- it feels timeless, and it's beautiful.
