My kids loved playing in the tidal pools at this beach. The tide moves very quickly. We got there at high tide and in a few hours we couldn't even see where the water met the sand. We were told the tide goes out 2 miles at low tide which I didn't believe at first but after seeing it I know it's true!

I gave it 4 stars because if you're looking for a beach to swim at this might not be it unless you come at high tide. But for kids who like to play in tidal pools it's great!

Breakwater Beach is one of the best beaches on the Cape. Go at low tide and you can walk for miles on the tidal flats.

Every trip to Brewster includes beaches for swimming and gathering during the day and for the lovely sunsets at dusk. Breakwater Beach and Crosby Landing among favorites for parking and beach access.

Our young kids thoroughly enjoyed exploring during low tide. There was ample parking whenever we visited and it was a short distance from our rental.

The flats are amazing and fun for both adults and kids- lots of exploring to be done at low tide! You can find parking at the museum nearby if the lot at the beach is full...

Perfect for families of young children. Warmer than Nat'l seashore and calmer, too. Low tide is really pretty at sunset.

So close to the cottage [Property ID 12130] -- less than a 5-minute drive. We never had issues getting a parking space, and parking is free after 3pm. At low tide you can walk out a long way. There's just enough space so you don't feel crowded. The only negative -- we wanted to stay one night to watch the sunset, but we started getting attacked by bugs, so we had to leave early.

Great Family Fun for Young and Old
7/14/2013

Great bay beach for families to enjoy swimming at high tide and plenty of tide pools at low tide. Younger children can play at your feet and explore the tide pools for hours. You'll find a fair amount of rocks at low tide, but they are easy to navigate. Nice stretch of beach allows you to take a good walk and collect beach treasures. We observed plenty of grandparents having a lot of fun!
Bring your beach chairs, umbrella, a picnic lunch, and plenty of sunscreen. A daily or weekly beach permit allows you to park in the lot or you can ride your bike if you are staying nearby. An added bonus is that you can easily access the restrooms from the beach, which we found to be quite handy!
