This wonderfully pristine beach is a lovely spot to spend the day. It tends to be less crowded than many of the Cape beaches. The sand is soft and the water clear making it a great spot for swimming and sunbathing. There is a municipal lot with 30 parking spaces and parking if free of charge.

I was a kid free to roam summers until 1963, with great swing set, bathrooms, salt creek and salt pond adventures, Cox's snack bar, the ice cream truck, the breakwater, swimming lessons, and amazing natural history revealed as the old Martha's Vineyard went by. My Dad explained things like why the propeller pulled the water and we kids collected stuff on the wrackline. Still a nice enough beach.

The Hyannis Park Civic Association, (the oldest continuously running civic association on Cape Cod) President Eleanor Bill spearheaded an effort to create the beach. Dorothy Braginton-Smith donated the land to the town on the condition that it remain free, and have a place for the kids to play. Initially, I was one of the Kids (her kids) that enjoyed that beach and the way it beacons to folks year round who watch the ferries endless comings and goings. It is a really amazing thing to watch the large ferries pass by on a cold winter night.

Small, but free which is great because we could come and go with the kids throughout the day.

My favorite beach are the private beaches at the end of the street. I id go to Bay View Beach around the corner one day. All the beaches are great for kids. My friends young children had a lot of fun trying to catch crabs and small fish in the tidal pools at high tide.
