We spent much of the weekend in Sandwich playing in a Little League tournament. The days were exciting, but each one hotter than the day before. During a few hours between games, we needed to cool the kids off. So, we headed towards Scorton Creek.
Driving west on 6A, just past the Quaker Meeting House Road turn for exit 3, we took a right down a dirt road. If you cross the bridge that people are jumping off (at high tide), you have gone too far. After a minute bumping along, we discovered a new paradise.
Sandy bottom, refreshing water, slight and easy current. A natural lazy river! We all loved it. Not too crowded, many other happy folks, some with kayaks. As we were leaving, two women arrived with their kayaks and dog. The dog, brave and eager, climbed into the kayak and sailed off towards the bridge.
We will go back!
