Siesta Key is located on a barrier island off Sarasota on Florida’s West Gulf Coast. Siesta Key has a feel of old Florida, and its beach regularly makes the list of top beaches in Florida. Its sand is 99% quartz, giving it a powdery, cool feel. It’s also a spacious beach with room to spread your blanket and set up your beach chairs, and shells are plentiful along the shoreline. Fun in the sun is what Siesta Key is all about!
Bursting with lush foliage, mature trees and tropical flowering shrubs line the winding routes to the village and the beaches. The beaches are quite natural, with protected wild sea oats and mangroves providing a protective habitat for the scores of native island birds that share the island, as well as the dolphins, manatees and other aquatic wildlife living just offshore. In addition to Siesta Key Beach, a favorite among people from all over the world. with facilities such as picnic areas, restrooms, concession stands, playground, trails, and tennis and volleyball courts, you can visit Turtle Beach or Palmer Point Beach. If you enjoy collecting shells, visit Turtle Beach, at the south end of the island. While not as powdery as Siesta Beach, it is less crowded and has restroom facilities, picnic shelters and a boat ramp. Crescent Beach is where you will find beachfront vacation rentals offering private beach access.
