BOCA RATON - Located at the extreme southern end of Palm Beach County, Boca Raton was first inhabited by the Tekesta Indians, who lived along the shores of what is now the Intracoastal Waterway. By the early 1900s, Boca Raton was a tiny agricultural community with many planters specializing in pineapple cultivation.

In May of 1925, the town of Boca Raton was created, and architect Addison Mizner decided to build a dream city of his own. He bought 17,000 acres of land and designed what was to be a new world resort, a utopia of architectural beauty, centered around an exclusive resort hotel. Boca Raton became a playground for the wealthy who enjoyed staying at The Boca Raton Resort and Club

Until the early 1960s, Boca Raton remained a small, upscale Palm Beach County town with the usual additional winter population. Like the rest of South Florida, Boca Raton experienced a fantastic building boom during the 1970s. The strict zoning standards that were adopted during that time, and continue to be strongly enforced today, are responsible for preserving the beauty of Boca Raton.

BOYNTON BEACH - It was 1894, one year after the last 'Barefoot Mailman' walked along its sandy shores and two years before Henry Flagler built his famous railroad, a former Civil War major, Nathan S. Boynton, from Port Huron, Michigan, first set eyes on the area that now bears his name.

Boynton Beach is located just a few miles from the bountiful Atlantic Gulf Stream and is serviced by two local marinas. The legendary Gulf Stream is abundant with a wide variety of delicious fish, including sailfish, marlin, blackfin tuna, wahoo, dolphin (known elsewhere as mahi-mahi), king mackeral (high in Omega 3!), red snapper, yellowtail snapper, sheepshead, pompano, and bluefish. You can charter a boat, or hop aboard a driftboat (a lot cheaper-most depart three times a day), and within thirty minutes, you'll be dropping your line into the Stream!

DELRAY BEACH - Located halfway between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale (just south of Boynton Beach), Delray Beach (population 55,000) is famous for its beautiful beach; the popular dive site of the wreck of the SS Inchulva (sunk by a hurricane in 1903 only a few hundred yards from shore); the vibrant Delray Beach hotels; nightlife and world-class restaurants off its main thoroughfare, Atlantic Avenue; and more events and festivals than any city of its size in South Florida!

JUNO BEACH - Located in North Palm Beach County, Juno Beach is a quiet oceanfront community of 3,000 with a small-town atmosphere and tucked neatly between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway.

Today, Juno Beach's luxury oceanfront estates and condominiums provide an ideal setting for a vacation. Activities in the town of Juno Beach include the Jupiter Theatre, nationally-known golf courses, tennis courts, county parks, shopping centers, art galleries, sunbathing, swimming, fishing (fishermen love the 960-foot-long fishing pier at Juno Beach Park!), and jogging and bicycling on the oceanfront bike path.

The Marinelife Museum is located in Loggerhead Park. From May to September each year, guides from the Marinelife Center introduce newcomers to turtle watching, as the sea turtles return to lay their eggs, with 1,000 nesting per mile!

JUPITER ISLAND - A sanctuary for some of America's wealthiest families, 17- mile-long Jupiter Island is the southernmost of Florida's three Barrier Islands. From presidents to sport celebrities, Jupiter Island's exquisite beauty and promise of privacy have proven irresistible to the rich and famous.

LAKE WORTH -Lake Worth, at the center of Palm Beach County, is just over five square miles and incorporates a seemingly endless stretch of beautiful, sunny beaches and a timeless downtown area that will appeal to anyone.

The revitalized downtown antique and art district is home to an eclectic mix of arts and crafts. The Lake Worth pier (960 feet long and open 24 hours a day) has long been known as the site of some of the world’s best ocean fishing and is the closest you can get to the fertile waters of the Atlantic's gulf stream without a boat!

PALM BEACH - Only 14 miles long and 1/2 mile in width, with a population barely exceeding 10,000, glamorous Palm Beach has a century-old reputation as one of the world's most powerful magnets for the the rich and famous.

Palm Beach received its first palm trees when the Providencia, loaded with Cuban coconuts, shipwrecked off the coast in 1878. Henry Morrison Flagler put Palm Beach on the map when he opened the Royal Poinciana Hotel in 1894 and promoted the island as the country's premier winter resort. In 1901 he built the mansion Whitehall, now the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum, for his wife, Mary Lily Kenan.

Today, the town's unique Palm Beach hotels and restaurants rank among the finest in the world. Worth Avenue shops are on par with Beverly Hill's Rodeo Drive. Fabulous mansions continue to be built, adding to the charm and ambiance of the classic Fatio, Mizner, and Wyeth designed structures.

PALM BEACH GARDENS - The story of Palm Beach Gardens began on March 20, 1959, when Florida insurance magnate John D. MacArthur announced his plan to develop 4,000 acres of prime dairy grazing land in North Palm Beach County. Being a lover of trees, MacArthur instructed that city streets and construction go around trees that had been growing for generations. This proved to be quite expensive, but he insisted that this new city work with nature, not the other way around.

In 1964, Mr. MacArthur heard that the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) was searching for a new location for their home offices and golf courses. MacArthur donated more than two million dollars to the project, and in March of 1965, the PGA clubhouse was completed.

SINGER ISLAND - Founded by sewing machine magnate Paris Singer, beautiful Singer Island is a favorite destination for those vacationing in the West Palm Beach/Palm Beach area (the island is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Florida Intracoastal Waterway on the west). Here you will the picture postcard beach, sunny weather, world class fishing and crystal clear snorkel/ SCUBA diving that South Florida is world famous for.

WEST PALM BEACH - The rich and famous have flocked to this area for more than a half century. Elegance and luxurious comfort are the hallmarks of this slice of paradise.

For the serious shopper, Worth Avenue is lined with posh boutiques offering designer clothes, original artwork, and many unique gifts. When the sun sets, enjoy fine dining by candlelight at one of the many lovely oceanfront restaurants. Definitely one of the more popular nighttime hotspots, West Palm Beach's nightlife scene includes cozy pubs, energetic dance clubs, and concert halls, giving revelers ample choice of how to spend their evening.

For theater and performing arts, the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is the premier location in West Palm Beach to spend an evening.

Professional polo matches are played here throughout the winter, and you don't have to be one of the affluent to join in the fun. Golf courses, tennis courts, and water sports galore will keep you busy. West Palm Beach also offers family fun, with the Palm Beach Zoo at Dreher Park, the South Florida Science Museum, and the Seaside Activity Station.
