Clearwater Beach, also known as “Florida’s Beach,” holds the record for most days of sunshine - 361 days. It is actually an island bordered by the Gulf of Mexico to the west and by Tampa Bay to the east, connected to the mainland by two draw bridges and has everything you could desire while on vacation: beautiful beaches, restaurants, gift shops, not to mention the largest charter fishing fleet on the West coast of Florida.
Clearwater Beach has an upbeat and tropical feeling, offering award winning white sand beaches such as Caladesi Island State Park Beach, America’s #2 beach in 2006, and Fort De Soto Park, America’s #1 beach in 2005. Egmont Key State Park is a wildlife refuge accessible only by boat where you will see an historic lighthouse and battery ruins. In all there are 35 miles of white-sand beaches on some eight major barrier islands. The beach is the draw for vacation here!
Sunsets at Pier 60 is a festival that runs every Thursday through Monday evening, two hours prior to sunset to two hours past sunset, on the promenade portion of Clearwater Beach's fishing pier. Watch Clearwater's famous sunsets while browsing among artists and crafters and be entertained by magicians, jugglers, tightrope walkers and musicians. This 1,080 long pier is also a great fishing spot.
Clearwater Marina is home to the largest fishing fleet on the West Coast of Florida and is the core of water recreation. Berthed in the marina are boats that offer a myriad of activities: fishing, sightseeing, sailing, speed, "hands on" marine life adventure, dining and dancing, parasailing and more. Dolphin watching cruises are very popular.
In nearby Clearwater are many more activities to tempt you. Round out your vacation with an easy day trip to the Sarasota area to the south or the Tampa Bay area to the north.
