''The Shore Cottage'' lives up to its name. Located only feet from the water, this early 20th century cottage provides spectacular views, a private beach (shared with only two other houses), and plenty of space to relax and play. The expansive lawn has ample space for enjoying the view as well as croquet, frisbee, badminton or a game of catch. A secluded garden on a fresh water pond is a great retreat for windy days. Just steps from the Martha’s Vineyard ferry and the shops, restaurants and institutions of Woods Hole “downtown”, it is separated from all the bustle of town by a tall fence that makes them seem miles away.
The house was designed by a Prairie School architect as a “Cape Cod cottage” for the caretaker of a larger estate, and it has been in the same family since it was built in 1914. A loving restoration in 2003 brought it up to date and yet retained its feel as an early 20th century cottage. The first floor bedroom still contains beds designed by the architect. (See ...

Further Description below...)The spacious living room has a working fireplace for cool spring or fall evenings, while the sun porch is the perfect location for watching sunsets. With one of the best views in town, the dining room almost feels like it is on a boat (only without the rocking). With the same ocean panorama to enjoy as you work, cooking and washing dishes in this kitchen is a pleasure.
